Ultimate Soldier Xtreme Detail F-104C/G Starfighter
Art Design: Standard 21st Century toys window box.
History: The Lockheed F-104 Starfigter series began testing in early 1954 as the prototype XF-104 which was lost in a crash in 1957. There have been  several military variations and they have been used by many nations. The last active military Starfighter was retired by the Italian Air Force in 2004.
Headsculpt: The face is clean cut with brown hair. It reminds me of the SLU figures of Chipper Jones, the Atlanta Braves player.Articulation: This 1:18 scale action figure is fully posable as any GI Joe, Ultra Corps, Power Team, or Blue Box figures.
Gear: This set includes a parachute pack, yellow helmet and face mask.
F104C/G: The photos speak for themselves. The fuselage is 36" long and the wingspan is 16" across. 99% of this jet plane is very crisply painted, but there is some faint evidence of spray painting on the red line near the back of the airplane. Otherwise, the paint applications to this jet are pretty much amazing. It is sharp, cleanly detailed and crisp. It is not as perfect as the real thing would be coming out of the factory, but it is the best model airplane that I have ever put together. The back landing gear has four pop-open bay doors. The front landing gear has two thin doors. The landing gears are all spring-mounted so that they pop-out when the doors are opened. A catch at their base holds the gears down once deployed so that you can roll the plane on the ground or for display purposes. The tricycle landing gear has caused many accidents (in real life).
Armament: 20mm M61 Vulcan six-barreled cannon, up to four  Sidewinder air-to-air missiles, and up to 4,000 pounds (1800 kilos) of bombs, missiles, rockets and other stores. The 21st Century Toys' F-104 model includes two Sidewinder missiles which are bottom-mounted. The two missiles snap on to a chassis that also snaps on to the F-104, so they can be easily removed for customizing.
Price: This collectible 1:18 scale jet aircraft sells at $49.99. They are available from many online dealers and toy stores.
Grade: A+
