Art Design: The box design was unique with special details and a photo inset of Barbie on the purple pillow which makes up the front of the box of the playset. When the back flap is opened, there are two plastic doors that show a decorated vanity table & mirror. Then the doors open to reveal the stage scene from Barbie's high school gym as it was decorated for the Fall Formal dance in The Barbie Diaries movie. These pretty pillows turn into playsets based on scenes from the Barbie Diaries dvd! The pink pillow playset unfolds to reveal Barbie’s bedroom from the movie, complete with a canopy bed!
The Barbie Diaries Theme: is that Barbie is a normal high school girl with two best friends (Courtney & Tia), a special diary, secret wishes, and a magical charm bracelet that changes everything! Will Barbie be able to rock with her band at the Fall Formal? Will Barbie's rival, Raquell, be able to steal Todd from Barbie? Is Barbie going to end up as Raquell's intern at the school's television station? Will Raquell and her rich, privileged friends continue to ridicule Barbie's working class, humble personality?
The Purple Pillow Playset: opens up like a clamshell to reveal a stage that is a bit small for Barbie. I have the Bratz stage and instrumentz set and it would not fit on this Barbie stage. The microphone stand is also undersized for Barbie, however I liked that it had a wire to connect it to the amplifier. A small purple butterfly loveseat which can sit one Barbie and a smaller heart-shaped black stool were also included along with a nice clothing rack. The set also includes several cosmetics, cans of soda, a thermos, and a mini-pillow made of a soft cloth fabric.
Outfits: The playset includes a black skirt decorated with colorful hearts; a white shirt with a heart on it; a fluffy purple & lavendar scarf, and a lavendar faux leather jacket with a fluffy purple collar. A pair of black pumps, silver dress shoes, and pink sunglasses are also included.
Market: Available for about $20. at most retail stores that sell Barbie dolls.
Overall: I think this is a great gift-set for anyone!
