Art Design: An interesting window box with the Nickelodeon and Spongebob Squarepants logos and character illustrations.
History: Tommy and Kelly are Barbie's little brother and little sister, though nobody is sure which one is the boy. Spongebob Squarepants is the incredibly popular cartoon which features Spongebob and his friends, Patrick Star, Squidward, Mr. Crabs, Plankton, Sandy Squirrel, Mrs. Puff, Gary the snail, and others who all live in Bikini Bottom. These funny characters love to have fun catching jellyfish and working at the Krusty Krab restaurant serving Krabby Patties. Spongebob is played by Tommy, and Patrick is played by Kelly.
Headsculpts: These adorable little children look like baby angels. Kelly has a beautiful face, and she looks great as Patrick! Tommy looks like a young Macauley Culkin (Home Alone).
Articulation: This is a standard Barbie child body with minimum articulation.
Outfits: The Patrick bodysuit is awesome. The pink rayon fabric makes Patrick look like a marshmallow or a sugar puff. The Kelly face peeking out from the costume is cute beyond words. This is one of the most lovable Kelly sets ever issued! In contrast, the Spongebob costume has very little or no padding. Where the Patrick/Kelly is outstanding, Spongebob/Tommy is just average. He looks like he hasn't had a Krabby Patty in weeks. It would have been so cool if Spongebob had a little yellow sponge filling inside the suit; but the costume has no filling at all and Spongebob looks anorexic.
Market: $8-10. at most toy retailers.
Overall: A fun set for Barbie collectors or fans of the Spongebob TV series. However, the lack of any gear such as a jellyfish net or a plastic Gary drops this set from good to just average.
