History: The Marvel Legends Apocalypse Build-A-Figure is created by putting together the limbs that were included along with the Bishop, Iron Fist, Maestro, Sasquatch, Wolverine, and the X-23 action figures. Due to a manufacturing error by Toy Biz, The Maestro figure did not include the power cable that attaches to the arm. In order to get that cable sent to you, call Toy Biz at 1-800-728-2018.
Apocalypse: This character was created by Louise Simonson and Jackson Guice and he was first introduced in Marvel Comics X-Factor #5 (May 1986). Since then, Apocalypse has been a major enemy of the X-Men, and he has been a part of several story arcs and mini-series.
The Headsculpt: Apocalypse looks as grim as he is usually depicted in the comic books. Apocalypse has a mean, evil, angry face, and Toy Biz has done a good job sculpting it.
Articulation: This is a 14" action figure, and he is very well articulated. The legs have ball joints at the hips, triple-jointed knees, a flexible ankle and the toes are hinged too. The arms have flexible joints at the shoulders, biceps, elbows, and wrists. The hands can open and close. Due to the large size of the biceps, Apocalypse is a bit muscle-bound. The joints are mostly nice and stiff, and Apocalypse can hold a pose very well. He is not a shelf-diver.
Overall: The figure looks great. He is big, heavy, and a quality action figure with a good amount of articulation. If you are a fan of the X-Men action figures; or you like to collect villains, then Apocalypse is one you should get. Considering that each piece of Apocalypse is free if you buy the other figures in the series, it is a great deal. The only negative in getting the pieces to Build-A-Figure is that every series always has a couple of lame characters. For me, it was X-23, which I had no interest in getting. So far there has been an Onslaught, Giant Man, and Galactus series of Build-A-Figure sets, and it is a lot of fun tracking down the individual figures and slowly putting together the BAF! The Marvel Legends figures are available at most retail stores for about $8-9. each.
