Art Design: A relatively plain, boring window box with illustrations. Action Man usually has dynamic art on their colorful boxes, but this box has no sales appeal. It has a generic look.
History: Redwolf is part of Action Man's new Action Force Team. Action Man finally has a couple of allies, like Flynt and Redwolf. Action Man has had many jeeps, trucks, boats, kayaks, and aircraft issued for him during the modern 12" era (post-1991). However, only a few different headsculpts have been created for the Action Man figures until now. GI Joe on the other hand has gotten fewer vehicles and gear sets, but a tremendous variety of different headsculpts. Too bad Hasbro never coordinated the GI Joe and Action Man lines to create a greater variety of vehicles, gear sets, & headsculpts for collectors.
Headsculpt: Redwolf looks a lot like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The headsculpt is excellent. The pony tail gives Redwolf a traditional Native American look. The hash marks on his face are not bad, but the white patch on his chin looks kind of silly. The other negative to this headsculpt is that is uses the earlier Action Man SLU body with the neckpost that can only be transferred to the GI Joe 30th Anniversary figures or Starting Line-Up 12" figures.
Body Style: The body is the newest Action Man style with smaller biceps and a slimmer waist. However, this Redwolf has a molded-on armor vest and a thick pistol and holster and utility belt. Only a winter parka or other large jacket could cover up all this molded-on gear.
Outfit: Redwolf brings gray boots and blue camo pants that match his armor and bow. The way Redwolf is dressed he looks like some kind of superhero or perhaps a cheerleader for a football team. I tried to kitbash Redwolf and he looks worse now with the forest camo pants and red boots! Redwolf is definitely a fashion victim. The molded-on blue armor vest means that Redwolf can be used as a Police Officer. Action Man issued an Airport Police Officer set several years ago that was similar (with dark blue pants, blue armor vest, and black shoes), but the outfit and vest were not molded-on.
The Gear: Redwolf includes a blue and black working Bow with three arrows, a tomahawk and a small machine gun.
Price and Availability: Redwolf is available from many online dealers for about $15. There is another Redwolf set that includes a nice winter camo kayak and other gear.
Overall: The headsculpt is good and the gear is good, but the humongous, molded-on armor vest is a negative for kitbashing. On the plus side, kids could see Redwolf as a combination Police Officer and Super Hero (Robocop?).
