Homies: Who says Hispanic kids don't have any role models? Thanks to Dave Gonzales, there are dozens of Homies in gumball machines across America. But now K-Mart has cool sets like the Homies Health Club #1.
The blister pack features three Homies working out and a Bench Press bench. The back of the card has artwork for a true gym rat's iron dungeon. Cracked concrete walls with "No Pain, No Gain" scrawled on the walls and grunting sweaty gym rats heaving cast iron.
Headsculpts: All three Homies are clearly exerting themselves while lifting weights. They all look like characters from the movies American Me or Blood In Blood Out. The guy doing the Bench Press looks like Tom Savini, the Special Effects expert on various Zombie films like Dawn of the Dead. These Homies have a lot of personality and emotion sculpted into their faces.
Articulation: At about two inches tall, they are roughly 1:32 scale figures and their arms and legs are not posable. These Homies are like small  statues in action poses. Except for the Bench Press guy, the other two have tattoos on their chests and/or arms. The paint applications on the rubber figures are pretty good. The tattoos could have been slightly sharper for the guy with the bandana. The tattoo on his chest is not very clear. On the other hand, the Homie doing the Dumbbell Curls clearly has "Chino Loco" tattooed on his chest.
Gear: The set includes a barbell with six large 45lb. plates on it. The Bench is also included, and it is well balanced so that it does not tip over when the barbell is on it. The clothing is molded on.
Overall: Any collector of the Homies or fan of weightlifting or  bodybuilding has to like these cool little dudes. These figures are well-proportioned, the sculpting is excellent for 1:32 scale, and the price is right at $4.99 per set.
