Packaging: Typical Fish Lure Look. The ERTL Sportsmen boxes have a sporty Hunting & Fishing Accessory look, perfect for fishermen. The Window box clearly shows what you are buying. The figures have a few twist-ties and the gear is sewn on to the backing card and covered with a vacu-formed plastic. Any collectors will have to tear the package open in order to display the figure.
Headsculpt: Clark Wendlandt is the licensed Sports Fisherman who is depicted in this set. However, he looks like a grown-up Action Boy (Captain Action's sidekick). If you want Captain Action to have an adult sidekick, then Clark Wendladt is perfect for the role.
Articulation: This is the Medicom Cro-Magnon type body. The upper torso is Dragon-style articulation. The legs are different from Dragon. For photos of the legs, check the Cro-Magnon Matt Review (#1 on the Review Index).
Outfit: Nice pants and shirt and hiking boots. The cap is real cloth, and it looks good. The fishing vest has many large working pockets with closing flaps. It looks realistic and is very well tailored.
Gear: Fishing net, fishing rod, captured fish, tackle box, cooler, cleaning knife and sheath, and a Fishing Trophy. The fishing rod has a working reel, and you can string line through it. The fishing net is a real miniature, and you can fish guppies out of your aquarium with it! The cooler would fit a six-pack of mini-bevarages. The The tackle box is very detailed. A couple of fishing lures to put into the box would have been an extremely nice touch.
Price: Various online dealers and e-bay sellers have the Sportsman series. Big Lots carries some of the Series II figures. For the price, they are a very good value.
Overall: The headsculpt is a normal sized head, true 1:6 scale; unlike the huge  heads that Hasbro and Mattel put on their celebrity figures. The outfit and gear are very good, and this set deserves an A for originality, design, and execution!
