Packaging: A flat cardboard box with a photo of the tent and the sleeping bag on the front of the box. "Special Forces" is a company which has been issuing some action figures at a price point of about $3.77 each; which is lower than Power Team.
The Military Tent: The tent has a good combination of Olive Drab and Camouflage colors which seem to be the old Vietnam look as opposed to Woodland Camo. This kind of Camo was also used a lot for hunting before Woodland Camo became the norm. The tent has a wire contraption on the inside so it folds down flat and pops up to the open tent position in a jiffy. It is pretty sturdy for a tent. Sure, a powerful gust of wind would blow it away if it was empty, but then setting it up in less than five seconds is a lot easier than the old G.I. Joe tents that brought the little plastic wood-textured stakes with them and took about an hour to put together.
The Sleeping Bag: A full 12" Sideshow Civil War
soldier fit in alright. This sleeping bag has a head
flap and a velcro snap. An 11.5 inch figure would
fit with even more room. The Sleeping Bag has
been sewn very well, the fabric is pretty thick;
but it does not compare to the J.C. Penney exclusive Sleeping Bag which was issued for G.I. Joe a few years ago. Several other companies make custom Sleeping Bags, and they are all probably better than this one. This "Special Forces" Sleeping Bag is only better than the Original G.I. Joe Vintage Sleeping Bag from the 1960s, and that is only because the fabric is thicker and softer than the vintage G.I. Joe bag. However, the G.I. Joe bag is always a sentimental favorite, and aside from comfort, it was a working Sleeping Bag which was wide enough that the dedicated hobbyist could insert a 1:6 scale size comforter. Whatever your favorite is, this "Special Forces" Sleeping Bag is not fancy, but it gets the job done for diorama purposes. The best part is the price:
Price: The Military Tent and Sleeping Bag cost a whopping $3.99 at Big Lots (formerly Mac Frugals in South Florida). Yes, for $3.99 you get a decent two-person tent, and a pretty nice sleeping bag! This must be one of the best 1:6 Scale hobby bargains of the year! You can set up a squad with tents for about $20.00 and have an excellent campsite diorama. Post your photos at the Action Heroes group!
Overall: A tent, a sleeping bag, $3.99? 'NUFF SAID!
