Packaging: As with the rest of the "NAM" series, the outer box flap tries to capture the 1960's look, and the inner flap has an infrared picture of a soldier. What is the message? I don't know. There is no "Viet-Nam War" information. There is no MACV-SOG information. Unlike the World War II series, which usually has a lot of interesting historical information on the inner flap of each box, the Vietnam series has zero information on any of the boxes that I have seen. The Dragon folks seem to be trying to avoid offending those who may not want to see anything positive published about the U.S. Armed Forces in the Viet-Nam Conflict. Sure, Dragon Models are just "toys" but keep in mind that their in-depth historical research in preparing the figures makes it odd that every single "NAM" series figure has no historical information provided about it on the flap. The only reason that this bugs me is that the average Joe (like me) does not know much about the various outfits, gear, weapons, and other information that makes the figure more interesting. Hopefully Dragon will continue putting the historical information on their future releases.
Figure: has a Dragon ultra-articulated body with a headsculpt that looks like actor Charles Bronson. Dragon has also done figures that looked like Lee Marvin, James Coburn, and John Wayne and they were all best sellers! Charles Bronson was a cool actor who did many great movies in his time.
Outfit and Gear: What can be said about Dragon?? It is the best of the best! The outfit is very well tailored using quality fabric. The gear is outstanding. An extra pair of boots is included, apparently these boots are supposed to leave footprints instead of boot tracks. I wonder how prevalent the use of these boots was in Viet-Nam. The bandana is easy to put on, with a generous portion of fabric so that people with Adult-Sized fingers can wrap the bandana easily. The figure is wearing a rapelling harness which allows for helicopter drops or for sliding down a string if you put him into a diorama. Extra ammo clips are included, grenades, web-belt, canteens, etc.
Overall: Dragon is usually a can't miss! I only wish some history had been included with the set!
