Ultra Corps! Wave Runner Set
Packaging: The Lanard Ultra Corps! 12" figures and sets are usually sold in "Kid Connection" boxes at Wal-Mart and Target Stores. The "Kid Connection" is a sort of generic brand which sells a variety of toys at the nine dollars to twenty dollars price range. As you can see from the photos, the boxes are plain window boxes. Usually the entire "Kid Connection" line is stacked together in one aisle and so usually these Ultra Corps! figures and sets will not be located in the action figure section of the store.
Figure and headsculpt: The body is the same old body which is almost as bulky as an Action Man body but Ultra Corps! has a little bit less articulation. The headsculpt is the same black, curly haired guy from the first series. It was a very nice sculpt way back in 1998, but it is time for change!
Water-Ski: Wave Runner? Water-Ski? Same thing? I am not sure, but the vehicle is very well made, sturdy, and play friendly. It includes a keel to snap on the bottom of the boat so that it can float in the water with a figure on it. There are two colors available, and the one I purchased was the most colorful of the two that I saw. Like most of the hard plastic vehicles, this one can be re-painted.
Overall: The vehicle is excellent, the figure needs help, and the headsculpt is past its prime. For $15.00 this set is OK. If the head were a new one, then this set would be great, but the way it is only the Wave Runner is collectible, new, and different! Ultra Corps! seems to be trying, but they need to revamp the headsculpts. All the other new Ultra Corps! sets had old heads on them also.
