Art Design: The Basic Training Army and Marine figures are carded figures. The G.I. Joe logo is in a patriotic red, white, & blue setting. Apparently this new packaging for many of the G.I. Joe figures is in response to the 9-11 tragedy and the War on Terrorism. The back of the carded Marine and Army soldiers each have a photo of the action figure with all of his gear attached and holding his weapon.
The Figure/Headsculpt: The headsculpts are both from the Pearl Harbor sets. The figures are muscle bodied G.I. Joes with the Gung-Ho grip. Since these figures have their T-Shirts molded on, the more muscular biceps look better. The T-Shirts are also molded on to give the appearance that they are tight fitting and the soldier's muscular chest is almost about to burst through. It is a very athletic look. The molded on T-Shirts in this limited situation looks very good. However, I hope they do not take it any further, as in molded on jackets, caps, pants, etc.
The Outfit/Gear: The Marine brings camo pants, black boots, a baseball cap, a plastic web-belt, three grenades, knee pads, and an M-60 with an ammo belt. The baseball cap which says: "Marines" is the highlight of the set. The Army recruit brings Desert camo pants, boots, web belt, canteen, ammo pouch, M-16, and desert style holster & knife. The "Army" baseball cap and the desert style knife/holster are the highlights of this set. Everything else in these sets is not new or has been done better by Dragon, 21st, Blue Box, or even SOTW.
Overall: Not bad for $9.99. The molded on T-Shirts look good under a jacket. The baseball caps are extremely well done. The rest is kitbash fodder.
