Action Man's James Bond: The Spy Who Loved Me
Packaging: The box for the James Bond sets are Action Man orange, instead of perhaps using Union Jack colors. The Action Man version of British Agent James Bond 007 does not look like any of the James Bond actors. Apparently Hasbro was too cheap to pay for licensing the images of Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, etc. So instead of paying top $$ for  a Roger Moore action figure dressed in the ski outfit from Spy Who Loved Me, you get a generic Action Man figure. The figures on the box all have that GENERIC spy look. In some ways, the Action Man James Bond series has the feel of the 1960s Gilbert's Man From Uncle series. Each box has a film cell of a frame from the movie in the top corner. You can take the film cell from the box and then frame it? What are those film cells are good for??
Figure/Headsculpt: This set uses the articulated Action Man body and head scultp. It does not look anything like the somewhat lean and tall Roger Moore. (Check out Elvis wearing this outfit)
Outfit/Gear: This is one of the best of the James Bond sets! The yellow ski outfit and red backpack, wool cap, and shoes make this a great Adventure Team type of outfit. By itself, it is a very nice set. Unfortunately, James Bond has no Walther PPK or any other weapon beyond his wits. Most of the James Bond sets do not bring any of the standard weapons that he uses in the movies, and that is a major oversight.
Overall: The yellow ski outfit and red backpack are as photogenic as anything Action Man has ever produced. These sets are expensive ($40)  considering that the headsculpts are Action Man, not Roger Moore.  However, I cannot emphasize how nice this outfit is! In the flesh, this set looks even better!
