Art Design: The box has the classic black and yellow look of the current version of the G.I. Joe Timeless Collection. It is a very colorful open window box with a dynamic illustration of the figure on the left hand corner of the box.
Headsculpt and Figure: The 12" action figure is a Timeless Collection vintage style G.I. Joe with black fuzzy hair and the 1970s Kung-Fu Grip hands. The Timeless Collection figures have the traditional Vintage-style G.I. Joe body. The neckpost and head can be easily removed and placed on one of the much better articulated Captain Action figures (a Playing Mantis reproduction-see below). As you can see from the photo at the bottom, the fuzzy hair head looks great on a Captain Action body!
The Outfit: An all black traditional Covert Ops style pants and shirt. This set faithfully reproduces the 1960s style clothing and boots.
The Gear: For most people who grew up between 1956-1970, the personal jet-copter or heli-jet was fascinating. Captain Action had one, G.I. Joe had one, James Bond had one, and it showed up in James Bond movies, the MAN FROM UNCLE TV show, LOST IN SPACE, and even LAND OF THE GIANTS, and comic books, cartoons (Johnny Quest), novels, and other media. The personal jet copter meant that an industrious adventurer could literally climb any mountain, breach any fortress, overcome any defenses and become a one-person invasion force! And this set reproduces the original version. Also included is a helmet, a Scuba knife and sheath, Bren Machine Gun, awesome orange map case and map, small radio, Adventure Team Dog Tag, and pistol and shoulder holster. This set has it all!
Price: Originally priced at $29.99 at Target, it eventually was put on clearance, so if it may only be available from private collectors or online dealers at this point.
Overall: The black outfit literally shines! It looks great, especially with the red and black Adventure Team sticker. This whole set is a great tribute to G.I. Joe!
