Art Design: Very nice gigantic window box that shows the product very well along with a clear view of the remote control. The various features of the PT Cruiser are listed, and it provides any basic information a buyer might want to know.
The PT Cruiser Look: The PT Cruiser is available in several colors, but I liked the blue, wood-paneled version best because it looks sporty and reminds me of those 1960s Beach movie cars with the surfboards on top. The PT Cruiser has a sun roof which is very clear and looks great. The Chrome wheels are so shiny that they almost sparkle. The paint job is excellent. It really looks professional and has a deep color, unlike colored plastic or the kind of paint that chips off with use. The headlights look exactly like a real car. The doors open and so does the engine and the hatchback. There is a CHRYSLER logo on the front windshield.
The PT Cruiser Engine: You can pop open the hood and look at a very detailed engine. Unfortunately it is not chromed, so the photos are not showing up very brightly. It is a very nice touch, and it looks good.
The PT Cruiser Interior: It is a nice big car (compared to what 12" action figure collectors are used to). I like the big Action Man and Power Team figures which have the largest and bulkiest 12" action figure bodies, so I gave the PT Cruiser a test drive using a Talking Action Man. He was a snug fit, but the door closed and it stayed closed. The Seat Belt can be placed over a figure but it would have to be a thinner figure like Dragon or Sideshow Toy. Barbies and Ken dolls would have lots of space in this vehicle. The back seat doors do not open, but you can also put gear or smaller figures in the back seat area. The Seat Belt actually works! So do the headlights and there is a yellow turn signal that lights up when you turn the PT Cruiser! It is as real as it gets! The only thing missing is roll-down windows and a CD-Stereo system. You can also beep the horn. When you turn the vehicle on, the engine makes the typical start up revving sound, and it has an engine running sound too. The PT Cruiser is really an amazing vehicle! For the price, it includes the rechargeable battery and recharging gear. It also includes an extra wire reception antenna for the vehicle and extra side-view mirrors. It is a pretty fast vehicle, considering the size and that I had an action figure inside of it. It also turns and handles like a real automobile! It was a lot of fun to drive it around! The Battery compartment is in the back where the spare tire would go in a real version. It is easy to put in the battery, and it has a very nice battery hatch so that it blends into the vehicle. The PT Cruiser is very spacious. You can easily put in two figures in the front, and perhaps Action Boy, Ken, or Barbies in the back seat. The trunk space could hold several GI Joe duffle bags of gear or a few SOTW 1:6 scale footlockers.
Price and Availability: Most stores have them at 79.99 -$99.99. If you look on e-bay you can find them at various prices ranging from $25.-$40. and up. Some clearance outlets also get overstock RC vehicles.
Overall: The PT Cruiser is incredible. It really is like a miniature automobile. There are several more new Remote Control 1:6 scale vehicles out now, such as a Ford Pick-Up Truck, a Hummer, and an ATV. Let's face it, an RC version of a 1:6 scale vehicle for your GI Joe, Dragon, Ultimate Soldier, etc. is light years ahead of the blow-molded Irwin vehicles that existed back in the 1960s! More importantly, this vehicle is detailed to the max, and it really delivers a superb 1:6 scale RC ride for the Joes! Unfortunately, some of the 1:6 scale RC vehicles do not have working doors, which really defeats the point of buying the vehicle if you cannot put any figures inside of it!
