Art Design: A window box displays this Panzer Tiger Mark VI, part of Corgi's D-Day Series 2, Operation Overlord.
The Tiger Mark VI: This is a Corgi version of the German Panzer Tiger Mark VI Tank which was introduced into World War II battles in 1942 and was one of the largest tanks used by the German Army. It had a kill ratio of nearly 13:1. The Tiger VI is credited with 8600 Allied Tanks destroyed, compared to only 688 Tigers.
The Scale Vehicle & Sculpting: Corgi has made a very realistically detailed Panzer Tiger Tank. The scale is not stated on the box. The Corgi Tanks would probably be compatible with the scale of the Micro Machines Cars. One consideration that frosts my enthusiasm for these vehicles is that instead of keeping them all in the same scale, Corgi has instead made all the vehicles the same length. Therefore the Tiger Tank is about the same size as the Jeep and the Kubelwagen. The plus side is that the details are very well done. The tank has tow lines, a spare tread, and other items sculpted onto the vehicle. The die-cast treads are sharply sculpted. The vehicle runs on wheels under the chassis.
Paint Apps: The Tank looks very good. The tow cables are detailed, and the treads have weathering painted on. The paints are bright, crisp, and well executed considering the retail price of $3.99.
Display Stand: A nice plastic display stand is included, along with a small card that gives a few facts about the Tank.
Overall: For collectors of small scale vehicles, these Corgi sets are nice. I do not collect these types of vehicles, but they look so good that I bought several. At Big Lots they have some of the models at $1.99. At Toys R Us and Wal-Mart they are around $3.99 each.
