Art Design: Standard Window Card with information about the figure on the back of the card. A Trading Card with a photo of Tare on the front and his bio on the back is also included.
Headsculpts: Tare is a white panther. A War Face and a sneering face are included with the figure. The sneering face has its mouth slightly open with teeth clenched and eyes slit. The War Face has a nice set of yellow fangs bared for savage combat. Tare looks like an evil creature, and pursuant to the backstory, Tare is trying to overthrow his good brother King Tswana, the Black Panther.
Articulation: The body really threw me off. If you look at the mid-section, the waist tapers off into a thin stem that snaps into the hollow Chest cavity. The body reminds me of how an insect is built. The hollow chest and stem-waist ruin the outstanding sculpting of the body and the faces. The arms and legs do not bend at the elbows or knees. The shoulders and hip joints offer full range of motion, and cut wrists and ankles allow a variety of hand and feet movements. The tail is bendy-rubber.
Clothing: Tare has some African style rubber garments glued to his body. The paint applications on the figure, the garments, and the weapons are excellent.
Gear: The main reason that I bought this figure was for the gear. Tare is about 7" tall, but his oversized knife and two spears can be used by a 12" figure. One of his spears has a very nicely sculpted skull on the handle. Even better than the gear is the figure's stand. It is slightly over 7" wide and about 4" deep, and depicts a couple of mossy wooden tree stumps that would make an excellent cover for a 12" figure in a diorama.
Overall: This set was originally $14.99! Besides the usual retail outlets, specialty stores and some comic book stores also carried this series.
