Headsculpt: This headsculpt is better than the original first version because it has a more realistic thinner face. Ermey's stern scowl is captured perfectly. Sideshow Toy advised that this improved headsculpt is now used for both versions of the Gunnery Sgt. R. Lee Ermey.
Voice Chip: The voice is loud and clear, and it is unmistakable. The Gunny says six phrases which are pretty detailed Motivational Phrases. He introduces himself with: I am Gunnery Sergeant R. Lee Ermey. I am your Senior Drill Instructor, and your darkest nightmare." He goes on to say five more phrases which are a lot more forceful and explicit. Ermey's Motivational Phrases are very useful to listen to when you need a kick!
Articulation: Standard Dragon-style ultra articulated body. The right hand has a trigger finger grip, and the left is a fully gripping hand. The figure also has a tattoo of a dragon on his right arm and a USMC logo on his left forearm.
The Outfit: R. Lee Ermey is dressed in a modern Operation Iraq Digital Camouflage short sleeve jacket and pants with metal snaps and a web-belt and Desert boots. "Ermey" is silk-screened over his right chest pocket and "U.S. Marines" is over his left pocket. His Sergeant insignia is on both sides of his jacket's collar. This Desert Digital Camouflage outfit blows away anything by GI Joe or Blue Box Elite, and can only be compared to Dragon for the precise crispness of the detailed pattern. The sleeves are rolled-up, and Ermey looks like one tough badass Marine who is ready to rock the enemy's world.
The Gear: R. Lee Ermey is equipped with the traditional Drill Instructor hat with an elastic chin-strap and a Marine Corps logo on the peak. A pointing stick which also has the USMC logo on the handle is also included along with a red adjustable stand that also has the USMC logo and Semper Fi screened in a sharp yellow on its base.
Overall: By just adding a GI Joe Boonie Hat and M-16, Ermey is Battle Ready (see photos). The angry WAR FACE, the tattoos, the voice chip, and the awesome outfit make this set one that every collector should own. If you buy only one Collectible Action Figure this year, this is it!
