12" Roadblock (3rd Edition); GI Joe Valor vs. Venom
Art Design: This is a carded figure which retails for $9.97. The front of the box has a dynamic comic book style illustration. The File Card for Roadblock says that his name is Marvin F. Hinton. His grade is E-6. He is Infantry, Heavy Weapons and a Cook. Roadblock was born in Biloxi, Miss. The back of the card provides some back story regarding Dr. Mindbender, The COBRA Manimals, the B.A.T. II Androids, and the V-Troops.
Headsculpt & Articulation: GI Joe has created a tough-as-nails, no-nonsense, bad boy. Who does Roadblock look like? He has a very distinctive face. Is he based on Samuel L. JacksonMarvin HaglerJason Taylor, Taye Diggs; or is it Isaac Hayes that was used as the template for Roadblock? The action figure's body is the muscular body with cool, black molded-on gloves. Articulation is similar to the Ultimate Soldier Sam figures.
Outfit: A molded-on orange shirt which looks great on his dark muscular arms. The pants are olive green with an elastic waistband. The boots are standard Army (in black rubber). The vest has been  carefully sculpted with an eye for details. The most remarkable feature however is the color scheme of neon green applied to black rubber. The result is that the vest has many different shades of green, and oddly enough it looks weather-beaten and very cool. The neon green is in the seams of the vest, and the effect is surreal.
The Gear: The vest has a holster for  an oversized pistol from a 1991 Hall of Fame era mold. The M2 .50 Caliber Heavy Machine Gun looks  like a fun toy for young children.
Overall: Like most GI Joe sets, this one  has parts from every modern era. The headsculpt makes this figure a must have for collectors. The vest and gear are kid friendly and fun.
