Art Design: The front cover is a reproduction of the theater poster. The graphics on this box are fantastic. It runs the gamut from sepia toned photographs to vibrant commercial illustrations and movie stills. The back cover of the box has eight stills from the Goldeneye film and illustrations of the Sideshow Collectibles' 12" action figures of Sean Bean as Alec Trevalyan and Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. The inside front cover features the plot synopsis and the entire cast list of Goldeneye. An action figure stand with the James Bond 007 and Goldeneye logos is included.
Headsculpt: The photos do not do this headsculpt justice. The profile of Pierce Brosnan is dead-on. The face sculpt is an excellent rendering of Pierce Brosnan by Sideshow's Mat Falls.
Articulation: The body is the ultra-articulated Sideshow version of a Dragon design. The hands have the veins and the knuckles detailed. Sideshow makes the most realistic looking hands in the 1:6 scale. The only thing that is missing are the fingerprints.
Outfit: Pierce Brosnan is wearing the same fatigues and vest as in the movie. The vest has a miniature scale zipper which gives the vest a very realistic look. The stitching is well done. The pouches have flaps and they all open. The demolition charges fit into neatly into one of the front pouches. The boots are nicely weathered and expertly painted. The paint application on the figure and his gear is impressive.
Overall: The headsculpt is first-rate, the clothing and the gear could not be much better. This James Bond set is an excellent collectible. Fans of James Bond and Pierce Brosnan should be in 7th heaven with this set. The Sideshow series of James Bond 12" figures easily is the best of the best that has ever been done with the James Bond franchise.
12" Licensing History: In the 1990s Action Man had the license for James Bond and they never created any unique headsculpts for James Bond. The clothing sets were very good, but they were made for the stocky Action Man figures, as were the large handguns. In the 1960s, Gilbert's held the license and they did make many nice sets which have become sought-after and valuable collectibles. However, the Gilbert's action figure was a rubber bendy similar to a Ken doll.
