Art Design: A box with simple colors and an excellent view of the vehicle and the figures. This M113A2 Armored Personnel Carrier is part of the Ultimate Soldier 32X series of modern military vehicles. It is in 1:32 scale, which means that the figures are two inches tall.
The Figures: This M113A2 set includes a Tank Commander and a Gunner. The Tank Commander looks like the one that Ultimate Soldier issued in the 1:6 Scale. The helmet, outfit, and sidearm with holster are very precisely sculpted and cleanly painted. However, the Tank Commander has both arms by his side and that makes it hard to place him on the vehicle in a meaningful pose. Unlike the 1:18 scale figures, these little guys do not have articulated arms and legs. The arms have pegs which go into the shoulders. They are not very hard to pull off and customize. The Gunner figure has a more active pose which seems to be suited to standing in the turret manning the machine gun. The Machine gun is easy to move around and it is removable.
The M113A2: This vehicle is built for several more figures. As you can see from the photos, it has the hatch/door in the back and a seat for the gunner and a couple of bench seats for personnel. In addition to the back hatch/door, there is a top hatch that opens. Both the gunner and the Tank Commander's hatch covers open and close. The engine hatch in the front of the vehicle also opens to reveal a detailed engine. The crates and jerry cans are all nicely sculpted and attached to the vehicle via tiny rubber pegs. 21st Century Toys has done its homework on this M113A2 APC.
The Treads: One of the most amazing features of this nifty little APC is the realistic working rubber treads! Who would expect that a vehicle in the 1:32 scale would have working treads, and this M113A2 APC does! The treads are solid rubber, properly cast in a linked pattern and they look accurate.
