Sgt. Roy P. Benavidez, Medal of Honor G.I. Joe
Packaging: Hasbro does a very nice job on the Medal of Honor Series. This box has a painting of Sgt. Roy P. Benavidez in action on the day he earned his Medal Of Honor in Viet Nam. The backing card where Roy P. Benavidez' figure and gear is attached is also a scene from the same day, when Sgt. Benavidez was at the downed Helicopter coordinating Artillery Strikes against the Viet Cong. Sgt. Benavidez died of complications from diabetes on November 29, 1998.
Headsculpt: It looks like Sgt. Roy P. Benavidez, but it lacks the mythical Thousand Yard Stare. It is hard to imagine that anyone who had Sgt. Benavidez' combat experience and eight bullet wounds and numerous shrapnel injuries would look so  friendly as this headsculpt. On the other hand, Sgt. Benavidez was a very nice person who spent the rest of his life helping Veterans and fighting for  Disability benefits. So perhaps he just naturally had a kind and sincere face.
Articulation: Classic Collection body with the Gung-Ho grip.
Clothing: This is a really nice outfit, but, it seems to be Woodland Camo, which several members of the Action Heroes list pointed out was not issued until the late 1970s, at the earliest. Even the painting seems to show a slightly different Camouflage pattern which has the brighter greens that most people who have seen Viet Nam footage or movies are familiar with. So either someone ordered the wrong camouflage pattern fabric, or Hasbro just made a glaring mistake. The Jacket has a double-lining and the insignias are silk-screened on. The pants are equally well made. The flash on the beret is also silk-screened. The cloth Medic Bag has two compartments, but no Medic gear. A couple of bandages in the Medic Bag would have been  great! The plastic belt has grommets.
Accessories: This set brings several items. The only bad one is the M60 machine gun which looks like it came from an early Soldiers of the World set. Tiny grip and trigger on a massive weapon. It also has no "working" features, which are common on Power Team, 21st Century and Dragon M60s. The Ka-Bar knife is nice, the AK-47, flash grenades, and radio are excellent. The radio is the top of the line version that GI Joe includes in its best sets.
Overall: The set retails for $24.99 and it is a great set for any collector in spite of the camo uniform color error.
Grade: B+
