Art Design: The Secret of the Mummy's Tomb has the coolest G.I. Joe box ever. The art on the back of the box has a scene which would remind many of the Pulp Magazine hero Doc Savage (the Man of Bronze) or Indiana Jones. There is also a classy reference to the original Mummy's Tomb Adventure Team Set, and the front of the box heralds the return of the traditional Adventure Team symbol! The Designer of this box hopefully will be hired to do more G.I. Joe projects in the future! If you are an Adventure Team era collector, then this box will bring back some memories; and inspire the warm thoughts of those days back when you were a kid and the world was young!
Headsculpt: There are several variations of this Mummy'sTomb set which have different headsculpts. The Adventures of Joe with the goatee in brown hair and blond hair version; and the cleft-chin Joe are two varieties. The African American version brings a Joe with a full beard, but they seem to be harder to find. See photos below of the AA Joe (looks great!).
Outfit: The outfit is a sort of Adventure Team 2001 type of thing. The tan pants, the brown boots, and the tan hunting jacket and a modern pith helmet. It is not the same old Adventure Team, which is a shame.
Gear: The Adventure Team Joe brings a nice (Indiana Jones) whip, a World War II type of shovel, a giant machete-knife, a nice version of the M1911; and a rubber belt with a holder for either the whip or the shovel, but not both. Then there is the imaginary rubber chain which hangs from the belt. All the gear is great, except for the rubber belt. But then this set has so much going for it that you can overlook the rubber belt and imaginary chain.
THE MUMMY: This is where Hasbro finally decided to blow away the competition! The Mummy's Tomb is something right out of an art store! Is is well done, crisp heiroglyphics, beautifully sculpted, and the paints are perfect!! Best of all, it opens just like a real casket!  It also has the secret lever in the back so the Mummy's arm will push the door open. The Mummy inside the tomb is a well sculpted ugly dead dried-up mummy like the ones that you can usually see on those documentaries about the pyramids of ancient Egypt that are shown on the Discovery Channel. This set also has the three sacred gem stones, that those old Pharoahs were always burying with the dead! So you not only get a mummy and its sarcophagous (worth millions) but a buried treasure too (worth even more millions!). So you can understand why I think that this set ROCKS (no pun intended)!!! If you buy only one GI Joe set during your entire life, this is the one to get!!
GI Joe Adventure Team's Secret of the Mummy'sTomb
Overall: Great Mummy's Tomb, whip, gems, mummy, pith helmet, and Adventure Team medallion! This is one of the best sets that the modern GI Joe has ever produced for kids, and for vintage and modern collectors! This set is a true classic!
