Overall: I was elated when I recieved this set, until I tried out the Bazooka. Unlike the originals, this one basically could not shoot a shell more than two feet. The firing mechanism has also been changed so that it does not pull the wire spring back like the original did. Now the firing trigger is basically for show only.
Kid Safe Reproductions?? This change ruined the Bazooka. Sure it looks the same for display. However, a reproduction should be true to its source. Perhaps Hasbro imagined that adults were going to buy this "Collectible" at $34.99 for their kids and they want to make it "kid-safe." However, then what is the point of a Collectible Toy Market, or reproductions of Vintage toys that would costs thousands MIB? It does not make sense to make a reproduction for adults that changes the toy in order to make it "kid safe."
Cotswold: At least when Cotswold reproduces a Vintage item, it is 99% the same as the original. It seems kind of odd to buy a "reproduction" of a 1966 Green Beret set and half the gear is changed to reflect the safety concerns of 2002. Then also consider that those pointy little missiles in the Double Duty (and Hall of Fame) sets are probably more dangerous than the hollow Bazooka shells from the Green Beret set.
Push it out: The new "Commemorative" Bazooka now has a mechanism that "pushes" the shell out at a slow speed and short distance so that nobody can get hurt.
What is an Adult Collectible? Seriously, RC Tank owners routinely fire live ammo at shows, and other hobbyists deal with dangerous chemicals, motor parts, etc. So are the 1:6 scale collectors going to have to buy their items only from customizers if they want to get real details and accuracy?
Grade: C
Packaging: Great graphics in the 1960's style. Most of the gear cannot be removed without damaging the backing card.
Figure & Outfit: A Timeless Collection G.I. Joe with black hair wearing a 1960s Camouflage shirt & pants, tall brown boots. Looks like the originals and it is well tailored.
Gear: Tons of it. diecast metal machine gun & tripod, grenades, the camouflage canvas cover with the support poles; the mythical Bazooka and two shells. The brown M-16, black web-belt, and Green Beret. This set has it all, and it is one of the best ever TC sets.
