Planet of the Apes ATTAR, Gorilla General
I liked the new Planet of the Apes movie. Since Tim Burton was the director I expected it to be some kind of bizarre comedy. Fortunately the Burton humor was minimal. I had hoped that Hasbro would put out some quality action figures from this movie and the original series.
Packaging: Not bad. The logo speaks for itself.  There are some photos on the back of the box of the other characters.
Headsculpt: Nothing to get excited about. The face looks like a large version of the G.I. Joe Pygmy Gorilla. The earlier series of the original characters which Hasbro issued did a better job on the headsculpts. Attar is the Gorilla General, who is played by actor Michael Clarke Duncan. Attar's character was intelligent and he had a lot of emotional facial expressions even under the heavy make-up. Unfortunately, the collectible action figure is very  poorly done and the face looks just like any dollar store gorilla.
Articulation: Hall of Fame G.I. Joe rubbery legs with Action Man's articulated arms. Always a letdown whenever Hasbro issues these "movie" characters and gives them the Hall of Fame rubber legs.
Clothing: Attar is wearing a black jumpsuit which has black "fur" where ever his joints are supposed to show through the "armor." The armor on one arm popped off the shoulder as soon as I moved Attar's arm the first time. The thread broke. Attar is rather bland looking, since his armor is black, his jumpsuit is black, his boots are black, the helmet is black, and his face and hair are black. There is not much attention to details here. The armor has some red highlights, but they are hardly noticeable. Attar is a big black boring gob. In POTA  his face and fur were were brownish, and his armor was silver black with detailing.
Gear: a black club, which looks a lot like those fungo bats that are for hitting Whiffle Balls. No rifle, gun, grenade, knife, etc. Just a fungo bat. Another example of how this "collectible" was poorly done is the "boots" which are supposed to be armor-plated feet with sandals. A little difference in paint colors would have been a great improvement!
Price: I bought this on clearance for $2.44 at Target. Even at that price, Attar is not a bargain. If you have children and you want an inoffensive  figure that can  bounce off the walls, Attar is a good deal at $2.44. The Hall of Fame rubber body is good for playtime with small children. However, as a collectible, Attar is very poor at best.
